Sharing our love of music, one note at a time!
We are the Venice Gondoliers, the local chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Education of Barbershop Quartet Singing of America (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. now known as the Barbershop Harmony Society.)
We sing for fun and fellowship and share our music with Civic Clubs, Schools, Retirement Centers and a variety of Community groups. We dress up in our best Barbershop finery for our Annual show, held each March, where you might find us performing Broadway show songs, traditional Barbershop tunes, sacred hymns or rousing patriotic anthems.
We are a nonprofit organization which donates performance proceeds to local School music programs, local Charities, Scholarships and Cultural groups. Currently there twenty four of us who sing with the Venice Gondoliers.
If you like to sing and if you would like to share in the fun and excitement of barbershop harmony, then why not visit one of our rehearsals? All you need to be a Venice Gondolier is an interest in singing and harmony. Our music programs teach you basic music reading skills and vocal techniques.
It is not necessary that you "read music" to sing with us. We teach the four parts (lead, bass, baritone, and tenor) using sheet music, learning tapes and actual singing with the chorus and/or a quartet.
We meet each Monday night, 6:30 P M, at the Lakeside Lutheran Church, Meyer Hall, 2401 Tamiami Trail, So Venice, FL.
